The Bible reminds Christians that God has a perfect plan to do His will on earth. Sometimes it is the hardest trials
in life that God will use to do great things for him. This was true in the beginning of Good News Camp at Mark Victor
Teeter Memorial Park.
God gave Dr. and Mrs. James Teeter a beautiful new home with a pond and stream nearby for them and their four sons to
enjoy. Tim, Paul, Jon and Mark enjoyed swimming in the pond, wading in the stream, and watching the animals that lived
in the woods and fields nearby.
Dr. Teeter was a surgeon who performed many operations at the Waynesboro Hospital. Mrs. Teeter was a nurse, who
was now busy caring for four growing boys. They enjoyed teaching their boys about the Bible and taking them to church.
The Teeters were busy planning to go to Africa to help some missionaries at a hospital. God knew the plans and He had
a purpose.
One Saturday morning Paul, Jon, and Mark were riding their bikes on the driveway in front of their house. Mark
rode his tricycle off the driveway and onto the road in front of a car. Mark died on earth and became alive in Heaven.
He had the great joy of meeting Jesus, his Savior. Several months earlier Mark had believed on the Lord Jesus Christ
and was saved.
The Teeter family was left with great sadness and missed Mark very much. But God had not forgotten the Teeters.
He had not left them alone. He was working His perfect plan.
Two months later Dr. and Mrs. Teeter went to Africa to help the missionaries like they had planned. The next summer
the Teeters invited Miss Dottie to hold Good News Camp on their property because they wanted boys and girls to hear about
Jesus and believe on Him just like their son, Mark, had done. This summer, over fourty years after Good News Camp started
at Teeter Memorial Park, over 1,000 campers will hear that good news!
